I have had a similar problem. Using the Windows Generic drivers makes quite a few devices not work. For example, on my laptop with a built in bluetooth, I can play music from my phone through my laptop's speakers, because I have the broadcom software installed. However with my Rocketfish adapter, the only thing I can use my phone for is to send/receive files. However the Rocketfish adapter has A2DP, but will not work without the proper software and device profiles, Broadcom software.

 

I don't want to sound like a stinker but this is probably the first and last Rocketfish product I'll buy since there is no software support.

Hello Everyone,

The latest Broadcom drivers and software have been tested and verified to work for Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 by our engineering team.  The links on the RF-MRBTAD and RF-BCDM4 pages will take you to these most updated drivers and software here.   The "SetupBtwDownloadSE.exe" file contains the drivers and Bluetooth software needed for all of the supported operating systems.

 

  1. To install the software you will first want to uninstall any existing Bluetooth software and drivers from your computer and restart.  This includes all of the Broadcom and Widcomm software.
  2. After the computer has rebooted, plug the USB Bluetooth adapter into your computer.
  3. Download the Broadcom software, making sure you save it to your computer.
  4. Run the "SetupBtwDownloadSE.exe" file as Administrator
  5. Follow the on screen promts
  6. Pair your devices to the computer by following there manufactures pairing instructions.

If your RF-MRBTAD or RF-BCDM4 isn't working after these steps or fails during one of the steps,  there is likely a software or hardware conflict preventing it from working.  A possible remedy for these conflicts would be to reinstall your operating system and then reinstall the Bluetooth adapter.  Keep in mind that you will want to back up all of your files before reinstalling the operating system.  If you are not comfortable reinstalling the operating system yourself you could seek the assitance of Geek Squad or another computer repair vendor through a paid service.  This would be the final troubleshooting step you could attempt and if the adapter still will not work I would recommend returning with your Bluetooth adapter and a copy of your receipt to your place of purchase in order to pursue the possibility of warranty repair or replacement.

i've did all the steps that you provide and i only have one issue. SMS Messages still trying to connect and stay at that point. still display ( connecting ) and won't move farther!. Any ideas why?

So at this point you are able to see your Bluetooth device you are attempting to connect to through the computer? If it able to access portions of the phone, our adapter is functioning, and now it is just a case of getting the computer and device to communicate. Some phone manufacturers offer software that will allow the phone to connect to computers more smoothly and with a better interface.

Hello,

 

I have also have a rocketfish bluetooth adapter. It worked fine on my old computer and at first it worked on my new one as well but after an update for windows ( Windows 8 ) it wouldn't work anymore. I don't get the bluetooth option in my settings anymore but sometimes it randomly comes back. Please help me with this

It may be there is a software conflict on your computer which is causing it to work intermittantly.

Try uninstalling the bluetooth software through the remove hardware tool in your control panel, and then reinstalling it from HERE.

I have tried every step in this thread and every other thread on this site regarding the rocketfish bluetooth adapter.  I purchased it from BestBuy about a year ago and had zero issues with it working in Windows7.  I had my PS4 controller connected to my computer flawlessly with it.

 

And then Windows 10 happened.

 

Since I've updated to Win10, I cannot get this device installed.  I went as fas as completley removing the stack from the pc, wiping the pc and starting over and nothing, I reapeat: NOTHING works.

 

I called rocketfish's so called "tech support" and it was a total joke.  After waiting on hold for 25 minutes, some guy answered the phone with a "what do you want" attitude and then proceeded to do everything in his power to just get me to hang up.  I really felt like he just wanted me off the phone because I was ruining his coffee break or something.

 

To top it off, if you read through the forum, all the answers are exactly the same, like they're just copy and pasting responses.  "Go to broadcom's website and download the driver from there"  Don't spend any actual time trying to troubleshoot the issues.  Come on RF; you're a big boy company now.  You're being sponsored in BestBuy.  The least you can do is develop your own software and support your products.

 

If anyone out there reads this and comes up with a solution to get this POS dongle installed properly in Windows 10, please contact me.  

 

I guess it's time to buy a steam controller and never purchase a rocketfish product again.  EVER.
