1: How do I setup my Rocketboost Wireless Audio Devices?

  • Every Rocketboost network must contain only one hub device, which helps devices join the network.
  • The network can only have one hub, which you can enable by using the hub switch on the back of all Rocketboost senders and sender/receivers.
  • The sender in this kit is set at the factory for hub mode and the receiver has been pre-joined to the sender at the factory for easy setup.
  • If you already have an existing Rocketboost network, the sender’s HUB ENABLE switch should be set to Disable. The sender and receiver also need to be joined to your existing hub (the one with the green power indicator).
  • To setup your sender:
  • Connecting to amplifier speaker terminals – Surround mode is described as an example.
  1. Raise the antennas to the vertical position.
  2. Connect the right surround speaker terminals of your amplifier to the right speaker terminals of the sender by connecting the red speaker wire to the red(+) terminals, and the black speaker wire to the black(-) terminals.
  3. Connect the left surround speaker terminals of your amplifier to the left speaker terminals of the sender by connecting the red speaker wire to the red(+) terminals, and the black speaker wire to the black(-) terminals.
  4. Connect the power adapter to the DC IN jack on the sender and into a power outlet. The sender automatically turns on.
  • Connecting to a line level external audio source (such as an MP3 player)
  1. Raise the antennas to the vertical position.
  2. Connect the external audio source(s) to the Pre-in A and/or B jacks on the rear of the sender using the included 3.5 mm male-to-male stereo cable and the included 3.5 mm female-to-RCA stereo cable.

NOTE: The Input A/Input B buttons on the remote control allow you to select between the Speaker in or Pre in (line level). Each press of the button will toggle to the other source. The sender device must be powered up for these buttons to operate. The sender device will automatically remember the source when it is powered down.

  1. 3.     Connect the power adapter to the DC IN jack on the sender and into a power outlet. The sender automatically turns on.
  • To setup your receiver – Surround mode is described as an example:
  1. Raise the antennas to the vertical position.
  2. Connect the right surround speaker to the right speaker terminals on the receiver. Use a red speaker wire to connect the red(+) terminals and a black speaker wire to connect the black(-) terminals.
  3. Connect the left surround speaker to the left speaker terminals on the receiver. Use a red speaker wire to connect the red(+) terminals and a black speaker wire to connect the black(-) terminals.
  4. Connect the power adapter to the DC IN jack on the receiver and into a power outlet. The receiver automatically turns on.
  • To join the sender and receiver:
  1. The sender and receiver packaged together were pre-joined at the factory, so if you are only using one sender and receiver set, no further configuration is needed.
  2. If an active link is established between them, the power/join indicators on both units will light steadily (not blinking).
  3. If your sender and receiver are not correctly linked the power LEDs will flash slowly. See Question 2 on page 5.
  4. If you need to add additional Rocketboost products, please see Question 3 on page 6.
  5. Make sure the Source A or B indicator is lit on the sender for the channel that you have connected to your network for the audio transmission to be active.
    1. Repeatedly press the SOURCE button on the receiver until the audio channel you want is playing, then adjust the volume as desired.

2: My Rocketboost devices will not pair or join.

Every Rocketboost network must contain only one hub device, which helps other Rocketboost devices join the network.

  • You can turn any Rocketboost sender or sender/receiver into a hub by using the HUB STATUS or HUB ENABLE switch on the back of the device. The network can only have one hub.
  • The hub device must have power for the audio network to operate. The hub can be in standby (power-saving mode), but must remain plugged in.
  • The existing hub device will be the device with the green power indicator.
  • The hub device must have power for the audio network to operate. The hub can be in standby (power-saving mode), but must remain plugged in.
  • If Yes, make sure both the sender and receiver devices are plugged in.
  1.
    • The unobstructed operating range of a Rocketboost network is 150 feet (45 meters).
    • Each network must also contain both a sender device and a receiver device. Do you have both a sender and a receiver device?
  1. If the devices are more than 20 ft. apart or in separate rooms, bring them into the same room, plug them into an outlet and power them on.
  2. Make sure the antennas are raised on the sender and receiver devices.
  3. If the sender is the first sender in the Rocketboost network, make sure the HUB STATUS or HUB ENABLE is set toENABLE.

OR

If the sender is NOT the first sender in the Rocketboost network, make sure the HUB STATUS or HUB ENABLE is set toDISABLE.

  1. Power cycle both the sender and receiver devices by turning them off and turning them on again.
  2. Make sure the sender device connected to audio source such as an A/V receiver, PC, or iPod.
  3. Make sure the receiver device is connected to speakers or a speaker/amplifier system.
  4. Press and hold the power/join button the sender device for more than three seconds to put it into joining mode for 30 seconds. The power indicator light starts blinking rapidly.
  5. Press and hold the power/join button on the receiver device for more than three seconds to put it in joining mode. The power indicator light starts blinking rapidly. Joining mode stays active for 30 seconds.
    1. The power indicator lights steadily if the joining was successful.
    2. The power indicator blinks slowly if the joining was not successful. Repeat steps 6 and 7.
    3. If the devices were in separate rooms move them back to their original locations. The devices will remained paired and should work together as long as they are not more than 150 feet (45 meters) apart.
  • If No, you will need to purchase additional Rocketboost devices.
  • The RF-RBAUX, Rocketboost Wireless Sender/Receiver can be used as either a sender or receiver. If this is the only Rocketboost device you own, you will need to purchase a sender device such as another RF-RBAUX.
  • The RF-RBREC, Rocketboost Amplified Audio Receiver, is an amplified receiver. If this is the only Rocketboost device you own, you will need to purchase a sender device such as the RF-RBAUX.
  • The RF-RBWS02, Rocketboost 2.4 GHz Wireless Indoor/Outdoor speaker with wireless sender/receiver can be used without other Rocketboost devices. The sender/receiver will be used as a sender and the wireless speaker is the receiver.

4: How do I connect more than one wireless speaker (RF-RBWS02)?

  1. Join the first wireless speaker to your network, if it is already connected continue to step 2. If you are unsure how to do this, please see Question 1 on page 1.
  2. Tune to the source that you want to listen to on the first wireless speaker.
  3. Join the second wireless speaker to the network.
  4. Tune the second wireless speaker to the same audio source. You will now have two mono speakers, indicated by the LED on the front panel of each device.
  5. Select which speaker you want to be the left speaker, then press and hold the Source button for five seconds. It will start blinking rapidly.
  6. On the other wireless speaker, press and hold the Source button for five seconds. It will blink rapidly and then turn solid. The LED indicators will then show the appropriate Left and Right indication for each speaker.
  7. The speaker automatically switches to Stereo if only one speaker is turn on; however when the second speaker is turn on, the Mono settings will take effect on each speaker. The pair will create the stereo sound.

9: My audio has static noise or breaks up.

  •  Make sure all of the cables are connected correctly to the Rocketboost devices.
  • Keep in mind the unobstructed operating range of a Rocketboost network is 150 feet (45 meters). If the devices are further apart than this your audio may have static noise or break up.
  • It is possible other devices like cordless phones, microwaves, wireless routers, etc. may be causing interference. Try turning one device off at a time to determine which device is causing interference.
  • If your cordless phone or wireless router is causing interference try changing the channel it is using. Please refer to your device’s owner manual.
