Rocketfish Bluetooth Music Receiver and listening to TV using wireless speakers

Hi there,

I bought the Bluetooth Music Receiver (RF-BTR212) to try to solve the issue that I need to have wireless speakers by my bed when I watch tv in my bedroom so I don't disturb the roommates, anyways, a bestbuy sales person recommended this setup, connect the bluetooth receiver to the tv and then buy wireless bluetooth speakers and then I can listen to the tv from these speakers.  I hooked up the red and white wires to the back of the tv (the back of my Samsung lcd had a yellow, white, and red so I paired the white with white and red with red), not sure if I'm doing this correctly but nothing happens, the light on the receiver become blue and I can actually connect to the receiver with my smartphone but the sound of the tv is still coming out of the tv's speaker.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

Hello royguti,

Welcome to Community@Rocketfish™!

I apologize, but is seems the Best Buy sales rep steered you in the wrong direction.  The RF-BTR212 is designed to receive a Bluetooth audio signal and output it to another device such as speakers or a stereo.  It is not able to take an input from your TV and transmit it through to the Bluetooth Speakers by your bed.  We don't currently carry any products that would function well for remote speakers, but if you are not opposed to using a headset I would recommend taking the other two products back and purchasing the RF-WHP212 found here.

Re: Rocketfish Bluetooth Music Receiver and listening to TV using wireless speakers

Hello,

I only need to stream to my laptop, and I want to pair with a headset to do this.

I do NOT need 2 way communication, I just need to be able to send my talk to the laptop so that it can get passed to an app on there (Teamspeak).  I was hoping to pair with the Rocketfish receiver to do this, as the output from Teamspeak will go through my speaker.

Is this possible?  I think the problem might be that there is no way to type in the 0000 code from the headset (it has no keys other than the on/off and the Talk buttons).

If there is a way around this, that would be great, otherwise I will return it.

David

Another thing, I noticed your device is 5v 800ma, why not include a USB charger so someone could use this in the car with a USB cigarette adapter?

Hello howarddavidp,

Welcome to Community@ Rocketfish™!

Provided the computer has a 3.5 mm stereo plug Microphone input, it should work. If the Mic input is mono, you may need to get an adapter to convert 3.5mm stereo to 3.5mm mono. The 4 digit pin(0000) is usually only required for a phone, tablet, computer, etc. And regarding the car adapter, because 12volt systems are not as heavily regulated, and are more subject to dips and surges, we would not suggest using this unit in the vehicle.

Is the same true for the RF-BTR315? Exact same scenario. I just got one (also from Best Buy, by the way).

Hello Furrutia,

Welcome to Community@ Rocketfish™!

Yes, both devices have a similar functionality.

I believe the RF-BTR315 is simply an updated version of the RF-BTR212. They do the same thing, essentially.
